Supporters of the Center for the Arts in Homer, NY are invited to contribute furniture, antiques, artwork and other items that may have outlived their appeal or usefulness to the owner, but would attract a solid price at the annual 50-Mile Garage Sale (and auction).
As part of its participation in the annual Route 90, 50-Mile Garage Sale, the Center for the Arts will also host a special auction at 7:00 pm on Friday July 29 (viewing begins at 6:00pm).
“This annual event offers the community the opportunity to make a tax-deductible contribution of items that are too valuable to be subjected to the cut-rate pricing of our regular yard sale,” said Ty Marshal, Executive Director of the Center.
The Center is also looking for donations for the yard sale. Located at the corner of Routes 90 and 11 in Homer, New York, the Center anchors the event, which has become a Central New York institution.
As donations poured in last year, Marshal and an energetic group of volunteers decided some of the items deserved greater attention. They were modestly successful with the ensuing auction.
This year, they are hoping to collect enough items early enough to attract a larger and more diverse crowd for the Friday night auction to supplement the success of the yard sale, which covers the last full weekend in July.
“The yard sale and auction are a win-win for the community because they help people get rid of clutter and support the many events at the Center, and Friday’s auction adds value to this special fundraising event” Marshal said.
Those who wish to donate items of value (antiques, collectibles, furniture, etc.) for the auction or items for the yard sale should call the Center at (607) 749-4900 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org
